NMCUSD Child Nutrition Department handing out fresh produce to families.

The Nutrition Services Department has partnered with the Elkhorn Slough Foundation to be part of their "Healthy Hands, Helping Lands" program. During the previous two Monday meal distributions at Castroville, families received an additional bag of freshly picked organic produce to go along with their meal kits. Last Monday, 1,800 hundred pounds of produce was distributed to our families. This program helps local families in need, while at the same time supporting local farmers like Jesus pictured below. The program's launch at Castroville Elementary was in honor of the late Marilyn McLoughlin. Marilyn retired in 2015 after teaching at Castroville Elementary and was a long-standing volunteer at the Elkhorn Slough. This upcoming Monday the additional produce will be handed out at the night time meal distribution at the High School
