California Youth Behavioral Health Initiative (CYBHI)
Providing Health Insurance Information for Student Support Services
Dear Parents/Guardians,
As part of the California Youth Behavioral Health Initiative (CYBHI), recent legislation requires school districts to collaborate with health insurance providers — including Medi-Cal and private insurance plans — to help support students’ social-emotional and mental health services. This statewide effort is designed to strengthen the resources and care available on campus, ensuring your child can access support whenever it is needed.
We understand that families may have questions or concerns about providing health insurance or Medi-Cal information. However, under a new statewide law, private insurance providers and Medi-Cal are required to reimburse school districts for eligible social-emotional and mental health services delivered to students. Our district is following this law to access available reimbursements so we can continue offering essential student support services.
What This Means for You and Your Family
-
No additional costs or co-payments: Your family will not be billed or charged for any services provided by the school.
-
Why we request this information: Sharing your insurance or Medi-Cal details allows the district to seek reimbursement from providers, as required by law.
We are committed to being transparent throughout this process and to ensuring your child receives the highest level of care and support.
Thank you for your continued partnership as we work to support the well-being and success of all students.
