CAPTAIN/Autism
North Monterey County School District is proud to partner with the California Autism Professional Training and Information Network, (CAPTAIN) by promoting the use of evidence-based practices for individuals with Autism and related developmental disabilities. CAPTAIN is part of the California Department of Education Statewide System of Support in collaboration with Marin County SELPA: WWW.CAPTAIN.CA.GOV
North Monterey County USD is part of CAPTAIN 007, which is one of the 16 Regions of CAPTAIN and encompasses the following SELPAS: Monterey County, North Santa Cruz County, Santa Clara County, Pajaro Valley USD, and San Benito County. CAPTAIN 007 focuses on regional goals, such as collaborating with local colleges, after-school programs, and transportation departments, and has been recognized with the 2025 Region of Excellence Award.
NMCUSD Demonstration Site

On March 27th, 2025 our preschool classroom at Elkhorn Elementary School was recognized as a demonstration site for the implementation of evidence based practices with fidelity.
Our District Autism Implementation Team (DAIT) is beginning to scale up to another program and the demonstrate site model is benign sued to engage in continuous program improvement.
