The Biliteracy Pathway Program is a dual language program that offers students an exciting, enriching, and challenging educational opportunity. All students will learn to read, write, and communicate effectively in Spanish and English while achieving high levels of academic success. Students will have the biliteracy skills and cross-cultural competencies needed to succeed in our multicultural society and global economy.

What is the Biliteracy Program?

The Biliteracy Pathway Program is a TK-12 grade dual language program that offers students an exciting, enriching, and challenging educational opportunity. Through this pathway, students learn to read, write, and communicate effectively in both Spanish and English while achieving high levels of academic success.

Established through California Assembly Bill 815 in 2012, the State Seal of Biliteracy recognizes high school graduates who demonstrate proficiency in two or more languages.

By awarding the Seal of Biliteracy, North Monterey County Unified School District seeks to:

Encourage students to develop biliteracy and multilingual skills
Prepare students with essential 21st-century competencies, including global awareness and multicultural literacy
Promote language development, celebrate diversity, and honor the many cultures and languages within our community
Provide employers with a valuable means of identifying individuals with proven language and biliteracy skills

¿Qué es el programa de alfabetización bilingüe?

El Programa de alfabetización bilingüe es un programa de doble idioma para alumnos de TK-12 que ofrece a los estudiantes una oportunidad educativa emocionante, enriquecedora y estimulante. A través de este programa, los estudiantes aprenden a leer, escribir y comunicarse eficazmente tanto en español como en inglés, al tiempo que alcanzan altos niveles de éxito académico.

Establecido mediante la Ley 815 de la Asamblea de California en 2012, el Sello Estatal de Biliteracia reconoce a los graduados de secundaria que demuestran dominio de dos o más idiomas.

Al otorgar el Sello de Alfabetización Bilingüe, el Distrito Escolar Unificado del Condado Norte de Monterey busca:

Alentar a los estudiantes a desarrollar habilidades de alfabetización bilingüe y multilingüe.

An award given by the State of California to recognize high school graduates who have attained a high level of proficiency in speaking, reading, listening, and writing in one or more languages in addition to English.
