North Monterey County Unified School District Board of Education meetings are typically held at 7:00 p.m. on the first and third Thursday of each month (unless otherwise noted*) at the North Monterey County Unified School District, 8142 Moss Landing Road, Moss Landing. Throughout the year there are several different kinds of board meetings that will take place. The types of board meetings that occur are listed below:
- Closed Sessions: The Board of Trustees meet in closed session at designated times usually prior to the regular meeting at 7:00 p.m.
- Special Board Meetings and Study Sessions: Throughout the year Special Board meetings are scheduled as needed to discuss and consider particular items.
Study Sessions are scheduled as needed. Date, time & topics are announced prior to each special meeting/study session.
- Public Participation at Board Meetings: At each Board of Education meeting there is an opportunity for the public to make comments regarding any non-agenda matters within the Board's subject matter jurisdiction.
Regular Board Meetings Schedule
Pursuant to Executive Order N-29-20 of the Governor, and in order to adhere as closely as possible to the Order of the Health Officer of Monterey County, the Board meeting will not be open to personal attendance to the public. The purpose of the Governor's executive order is to control the spread of Coronovirus (COVD-19) and to reduce and minimize the risk of infection by "limiting attendance at public assemblies, conferences or other mass events." Board meetings will be held between March 13 and end of June, unless otherwise noted, will be via teleconference and use of Zoom mtg for remote participation.
“Zoom” is a cloud-based video communication that allows organizations to hold virtual meetings when in-person meetings are not available. Members of the public can view and participate in the meeting just as if they were present at any other Board meetings. This can be done from any electronic device (laptop, tablet, Chromebook, iPad, iPhone, etc) and from any location. If members of the public would like to make a public comment, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call (831) 682-8836, please do so by 5:30 p.m. on April 9, 2020. If you wish for your comment to be read aloud, please indicate this specially in your communication. Requests to be read aloud will be honored, subject to the Board's usual time limit on public comment. All such written comments that are within the District’s jurisdiction will be read aloud at the meeting up to a three minute limit per speaker. March 12 and 19 (Spring Break March 23-27) and April 9 and 30
May 14 and 28 (Special Board Meeting May 21)
June 11 4 and 18 25 (Due to COVID-19, rescheduled)

October 8 and 22
November 5 and 19
December 17 **Organizational Meeting
*Only one meeting in July and December
At least 72 hours prior to a regular meeting, the agenda shall be posted at one or more locations freely accessible to members of the public and on the district's Internet website via the online agenda link.
