New Guidance and Masking Timeline
Based on our local decision by the Board of Trustees, here are the guidelines and related timeline for North Monterey County Unified school campuses and facilities: Our District school campuses/facilities current outdoor masking requirement will end on Saturday, March 12. NMCUSD's Educator Effectiveness Block Grant (EEBG)
The Educator Effectiveness Fund 2021 Block Grant Program was established by Assembly Bill 130, Chapter 44, Section 22, Statutes of 2021. The law specified that Educator Effectiveness Block Grant may be used to support professional learning for certificated teachers, administrators, paraprofessional educators, and certificated staff.

The NMCUSD's ESSER III Expenditure Plan
The District has consulted with its community members in determining the prevention and mitigation strategies, strategies to address the academic impact of lost instructional time, as well as other strategies or activities to be implemented by the school district. In developing the plan, the school district has flexibility to include input received from community members during the development of other District Plans, such as the LCAP, provided that the input is relevant to the development of the district's ESSER III Expenditure Plan. AB 104: Grade Changes and Retention Options
The state of California recently enacted a new law that will expand learning and credit recovery options for students who may have struggled academically during the 2020-2021 school year. Assembly Bill 104 (AB-104) includes provisions in the area of pass/no pass grades, student retention and exemption of local graduation requirements. (Click to read more)

These Monterey County homeless, foster students have a higher graduation rate than housed students
Thirty-five percent of students enrolled in The North Monterey County Unified School District (NMCUSD) are homeless or foster students, according to district officials. Despite these challenges, students are graduating at a much higher rate than housed students in the county.

Hartnell Education Center coming to Castroville in the near future.
Castroville will soon have its first college facility proving its community members access to college credit classes, adult education, labs, and a community meeting place. Hartnell Education Center in Castroville is expected to open in Spring 2022.
