Youth Cinema Project (YCP) Founder Edward James Olmos Visits Echo Valley Elementary YCP Students
Academy Award-nominated actor Edward James Olmos visited North Monterey County Unified School District Youth Cinema Project at Echo Valley Elementary School on May 26, 2022. Youth Cinema Project Students from Elkhorn, Castroville, Prunedale, Echo Valley, and the middle school will then attend YCP LEGACY, the student film festival component within The Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival (LALIFF) on June 4.

Safety in NMCUSD Schools/Emergency Preparedness
We are deeply saddened to learn of the tragedy that occurred at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. As educators and as parents, it is difficult to comprehend such catastrophic events. We feel closely connected to the children, teachers, staff, families, and the community who are so devastated by this loss of innocent lives. New Guidance and Masking Timeline
Based on our local decision by the Board of Trustees, here are the guidelines and related timeline for North Monterey County Unified school campuses and facilities: Our District school campuses/facilities current outdoor masking requirement will end on Saturday, March 12. NMCUSD's Educator Effectiveness Block Grant (EEBG)
The Educator Effectiveness Fund 2021 Block Grant Program was established by Assembly Bill 130, Chapter 44, Section 22, Statutes of 2021. The law specified that Educator Effectiveness Block Grant may be used to support professional learning for certificated teachers, administrators, paraprofessional educators, and certificated staff.

The NMCUSD's ESSER III Expenditure Plan
The District has consulted with its community members in determining the prevention and mitigation strategies, strategies to address the academic impact of lost instructional time, as well as other strategies or activities to be implemented by the school district. In developing the plan, the school district has flexibility to include input received from community members during the development of other District Plans, such as the LCAP, provided that the input is relevant to the development of the district's ESSER III Expenditure Plan.
