State Preschool Program

Children learn and develop in a safe environment through stimulating and challenging activities that address the individual learning needs of each child. Each child has a unique pattern and timing for growth and development. Children learn by doing and become independent by being given the opportunity and guidance to make appropriate choices. We teach and model the Community of Caring values: Respect, Responsibility, Trust, Caring, and Family.

Pre School Program Goals:

• Create a safe and nurturing environment that promotes the language, social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of the whole child.
• Provide a nurturing environment to help children develop a positive self-concept and celebrate their diversity.
• Develop oral language and literacy skills that prepare children for success in district Kindergarten classes through California Reading and Literature Project RESULTS Assessments.
• Encourage parents to participate in preschool activities whenever possible.
• Increase parents’ understanding of the physical, mental, emotional, and social development of their children.
• Create an environment that enhances self-esteem.

Pre School Staff:

All staff members are fully qualified according to guidelines published by the California Department of Education Child Development Division. The teacher is Red Cross Certified in pediatric CPR and First Aid.

Pre School Curriculum:

Developmentally appropriate activities include indoor and outdoor art, emergent literacy, language arts, music, movement and science.

Regulations for Child Abuse:

All teachers and child caregivers are required by law to report suspicions of child abuse to proper authorities.

Program Locations: Programs are located at all of the Elementary schools in the district. Click here for specific information on individual programs.
