In the Transportation category, Mr. Andrei Rayas is one of six exemplary classified school employees that will represent Monterey County in the California Department off Education's 2017 Classified Employee of the Year Program. He will be recognized by the Monterey County Office of Education on May 22. Congratulations Mr. Andrei Rayas! See picture below.

On April 24, State School Chief Tom Torlakson announced the 2017 Classified School Employees of the Year and Mr. Andrei Rayas was selected in the Transportation Department and will be honored at a May 25 luncheon in Sacramento.

MOSS LANDING >> One of the most important lessons Andrei Rayas learned from his father is his attitude at work.

“I learned from my dad to be responsible in every way,” Rayas, the lead mechanic at North Monterey County Unified School District. “He always told me, ‘Lo que hagas, hazlo con gusto’ (whatever you do, do it with joy). And that’s what I’ve adopted from him.”

And that work ethic is what has made Rayas a 2017 Outstanding Classified Employee, one of six in California to earn the honor and the only in the transportation category. Click here for full story from the Monterey Herald

Mrs. Oldakowski, Kindergarten teacher at Elkhorn Elemetary School, received the "Classroom Makeover" award from KION and Central Coast Federal Credit Union. She was surprised during class on March 30, 2017. Congratulations!
