Enrollment - Transitional Kindergarden/ Kindergarden

Transitional Kindergarden/ Kindergarten Registration Information

Please note there has been a CHANGE in the law regarding the age of enrollment

A child must turn 5 years old on or before September 1 to be eligible for kindergarten

Children turning 5 years old between September 2nd – December 2nd are eligible for Transitional Kindergarten and will still be served at our elementary schools in a transitional kindergarten classroom.    

Pre-school programs are also available at each of the elementary sites.

Transitional Kinder & Kindergarten registration takes place at your “neighborhood” elementary school:

  3. Elkhorn Elementary School, 2235 Elkhorn Rd., Castroville (831) 633-2405

The annual transfer transfer period is an opportunity for parents/guardians who live within the North Monterey County Unified School District (NMCUSD) to request a new school placement for their child or to renew a transfer to a school outside their attendance area. Open Enrollment is between January 1st and March 1st, 2017.
